- Congratulations to Tomohiro Matsuyama who earned his tailwheel endorsement only a week after getting his Private Pilot Certificate in a brand C nosedragger.
- We have another fledgling flying the coop. Mark Hamilton Peters managed to push his instructor Grainne out of 1806G and took off on his own. Several circuits later we caught him with a huge grin on his face for this picture.
- Welcome to the newest member of the certified pilot family, Kevin Ford. Kevin passed his checkride with flying colors and received top marks from the examiner.
- Our own Vess Velikov competed as a member of the San Jose State University Precision Flying Team. Nine students traveled to San Diego for a week (2/11-2/19) of practice and competition. Coaches Kelly Harrison and Pat Moran and Advisor Sam Huang joined the team for the events. The team placed 2nd overall in the Pacific region and is now eligible to compete in the national finals in Ohio in May. Vess himself placed in the top ten in three events. Well done Vess. Many thanks go to Len Von Clemm for supplying his own airplane for the competition, to Robin and Marici Reid for paying for the insurance needed to compete and to all who contributed donations to help make this trip possible. For more info see the SJSU Precision Flight Team Web Site
- Congratulations to Aaron Lepold who booted out Marko, his instructor, and perfomed his first three solo takeoffs and landings.

- Our monthly series of FAA seminars continues in February. Starting 7pm on Tuesday Feb 7th, in thw RHV terminal, Mike Shiflett, our well known local examiner, will give a seminar entitled "Crazy moments on the Checkride". Any pilot working towards any rating should make it a point to attend. Everyone else will learn something too, and all will enjoy an evening of laughs as Mike recounts things to do and not to do on a checkride. More Details
- Come and see a brand new Light Sport Airplane. On Friday Feb 10th starting at 10am, we will be visited by a brand new Flight Design CTSW. This sporty German design can cruise at 120kts carrying two people in style and comfort. Anyone interested in leaseback possibilities please contact Zdravko. For more about the airplane click here
