August 2005
- Bob Goodwyn is back from Alaska. The climate must be better here. We are delighted to have him teaching with us again.
- Lori Carr has decided to go back to school, and while we are sorry to see her leave, we wish her all the best in her studies.
- Our first fledglings for August are Phil Schuyler and James Nguyen who both achieved their first solo. Well done.
July 2005
- The latest Private Pilot has taken to the skies. Chris Luvara passed his checkride in 32G with flying colors. Congratulations Chris.
- N1701H is with us! This is a 1974 Citabria 7KCAB, modified with the metal wing spars to give it an additional 100lbs increase in max gross weight. It is available for regular and acrobatic training and non-aerobatic rental. Same rates as N88353.
- Congratulations to Konstantin Blank on successfully passing his Private Pilot Checkride on the first try.
- We have been fortunate to attract back a couple of instructors who used to teach at Amelia's in the past. Marko Bewersdorff and Joe StClair are available for teaching part time. In addition we have one new instructor, Eugene Khenson, who is available for teaching in the Cessna 172 while he builds up tailwheel time and gets checked out in the back seat. The instructors are in Schedulemaster and as usual it is good practice to confirm any booking with them by phone. Phone numbers are also in Schedulemaster, or the front desk can assist you.
- Bob Goodwyn got a job in Alaska flying Chieftains to outlying villages for a Part 121 scheduled local airline. Last heard he was checking out in a Caravan. Our best wishes go with him for success in his new job.
- Our July fledglings are John Apgar and Dave Dougherty. They managed to get over the need for the training wheel up front and became taildragger pilots. Well done!
- Recent bombings in London have caused the US threat level to be upgraded to orange regarding transportation networks. Please make sure you check NOTAMs before any flight, and get a full briefing before leaving the airport area.
Come and fly with us in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area of California. Our flight school is located at Reid Hillview airport in San Jose (KRHV), at the south end of San Francisco Bay and we offer ground and flight training for sport pilot, private pilot, commercial pilot, instrument rating, CFI (certified flight instructor), tailwheel, acrobatics, and multi engine certificates and ratings.
