Don’t let the fog or clouds stop you from flying. Learn to fly the airplane, and find your destination runway, with no visibility outside. We offer instrument flight training and can train you in our Cessna 172 as well as a Frasca sim and/or your own airplane.

The San Francisco Bay Area is very well suited to instrument flight training. We frequently have low lying cloud and fog layers nearby to train in, yet our airport (San Jose, Reid Hillview - KRHV) is VFR almost all the time.
Prerequisite: Private Pilot Certificate with 50 hrs pilot in command cross-country flight. Medical: Class I, II, or III
Time: 40 hrs instrument time including one 250 nautical mile dual cross-country trip, and additional requirements as per FAR 61.65. *
Cost: Approximately $5000-$6000
We recommend our Instrument Rating Ground School to prepare you for the knowledge test.

Our flight school is located at Reid Hillview airport in San Jose (KRHV), at the south end of San Francisco Bay and we offer ground and flight training for sport pilot, private pilot, commercial pilot, instrument rating, CFI (certified flight instructor), tailwheel, acrobatics, and multi engine certificates and ratings.
